White Light 80 – Pocketknife

“In the early 2000s NYC institution, Turntable Lab, coined a musical category called “HGSOB” which translated to “Hot Girl Singing Over Beats.” This mix for White Light started to take shape under a category that I like to call “DWOB” or “Dude Weeping Over Beats.” I guess one could argue that the history of modern music is a dude weeping over some type of beat. My listening tendencies are fairly beardo, so it wasn’t a stretch to find the many variations of the theme either through lyrical content or instrumentation. ’nuff said! Enjoy the weep!”
